Today's prompt is to fill in the blank of "partly _____."
I admit, "fill in the blank" prompts are not high on my inspiration list.
I know that I am partly to blame;
That I can’t deny.
But I won’t take the entire burden
For things that have gone awry.
I never made false promises
Or promised them the sky.
I did my best with all I could
And did more than get by.
To stand alone so thankless
I tire of asking why,
It’s time to slip into the night
And simply say “goodbye.”
